Happy New Year???

As some of you may know, I suffer from cystic wrist ganglionomy. Yes...that's a technical term for cysts on my wrists. They come and go whenever they please. I blame it on years of pushing, pulling, and lifting the wheelchairs/students I have worked with. They have always popped up on the back of my wrists. This past January, after I took a nasty little spill at Madera Canyon, which some of you may also recall, a lovely little bump appeared on sight of the exact spot I hit my wrist. This one was on the under side of my wrist and never truly went away. It got increasingly bigger over the past few months. Exhibit A...

Huge, ain't he! Naturally, he began bothering me and getting in the way of my duties at work. He had to go. Well, to get rid of him, I had to have x-rays and an MRI (one of the worst experiences of my life) just to get a bigger picture of what we were dealing with. The doctor informed me it was huge and spread across 2 areas of my tiny little wrist. Exhibit B...

So, my surgery was then scheduled for New Year's Eve. Great! No partying for me...the partying animal. Nope, instead I spent the afternoon under the knife, and then vomiting while a nurse stood by assisting my bladder emptying, and inevitably crying like a baby once she placed me in the car and walked away. I complained of acting ridiculous to Reed who comfortingly let me know it was okay to cry and to just let it out, which I did almost the whole ride home. When will he ever learn. On the upside, I am feeling much better this morning and can hardly wait to see the surgery aftermath in all its glory. It's all I can do to keep from ripping the bandages and brace off to take a peek now. Patience, patience little drama queen.

That doesn't sound like very much fun, but at least you got it taken care of!! I am really bad with medical stuff too :)

youch!! well, don't feel sad about having a quiet new year's, we chaperoned at the youth dance and then promptly went to sleep once we got home. I know you are jealous. Not that we would have done anything big,but we didn't even get to watch a movie.

Wow Jen! I hope that it heals and doesn't come back! You are a trooper though. I hate the whole hospital thing too. Hope that your New Years turns into a great one!

Wow, nice pictures! I've never had surgery so I know I would have been a crier too. Any blood or pain just doesn't work for me. How long is your recovery?
